FAQs

  1. Are the courses always offered in the same sequence?
The schedule is developed at the beginning of each academic year; however, the actual sequence of courses is subject to change.
  2. Can I complete all of these courses on the Internet?
No. Because certain competencies can only be achieved through hands-on laboratory experiences, the capstone course, POSC 4023, is offered only on the University of Arkansas campus. Additionally, some online courses may require students to take examinations at proctored testing sites.
  3. Can I transfer hours into the program?
Proposed transfer courses must have departmental approval. If approved, you will need to ask that your transcript be forwarded to the University of Arkansas. Questions should be forwarded to Dr. Robert Wideman: rwideman@uark.edu or
    479-575-4397.
  4. How much time do I have to complete the course?
A semester is 16 weeks. Please consult the semester calendar for these deadlines.
  5. When is payment expected for the course?
Payment is expected at the time of registration.
  6. Can I pay for these courses in installments?
Yes. Contact the University of Arkansas Treasurer's Office for details.
  7. Can you invoice my employer?
Yes. However, individual employer's policies and procedures may differ. Please contact your employer for details.
  8. Why is there only one course per semester?
The certificate program has been designed for full-time employees in the food industry, and one course is deemed to be the maximum load that a full-time employee can successfully complete during one semester.
  9. Can these courses be used in an 2-year or 4-year degree program?
Yes. However, the number of credits will depend on the degree program and the number of electives allowed in the program. Students should consult the admission requirements of the institution from which they expect to obtain a degree.
  10. Can I access the University of Arkansas library online?
Yes. Access is provided to students once enrolled in the courses.
  11. How do I get a copy of my transcript?
