Sr. High Auditions
Orchestra Auditions
All campers participate in auditions on the first day of camp. These auditions enable camp staff to assign campers to the ensemble in which they will be appropriately challenged. This placement process ensures that campers receive maximum benefit from their musical instruction. In addition, ensemble placement determines the camper's schedule for the week, and the group in which he/she will perform duing the final concerts.
Campers are responsible for obtaining the required audition material. Music is not available from camp registration, Continuing Education, or the U of A Department of Music. Audition material is copyrighted, and is not available electronically or by photocopying. Local music directors should be contacted for help in obtaining audition music, if needed.
Audition locations will be posted in the dormitory registration area on the first day of camp. Camp staff will be present to assist in finding assigned areas.
Campers should prepare all indicated audition material. Placement will be determined by the total score of all material. When exercises have first and second parts, the top line should be played. In cases where an exercise extends to the next page, both pages apply.
Preliminary audition results will be posted at the dorm following the evening concert held at Walton Arts Center Sunday evening. Each camper will receive a schedule for the remainder of the week based upon these results.
NOTE: Adjustments to ensemble placements may be made through noon on Monday, as deemed appropriate by camp faculty.
Provisions for large instrument storage will be outlined at the audition sites.
